Frequently asked questions

Let us put your mind at ease

1. What level of fitness or cycling experience is needed for your trips?

We have three types of Signature trips, with different combinations of effort and off-the-bike experiences: from Exquisite to Ultimate, with the intermediate Essential option. And our Custom trips are tailor-made to deliver the challenge you are looking for.

Furthermore, we will happily coach you on how to prepare for the trip once you have signed up. While on the trip, we accompany you at all times, guiding the group, providing all the necessary nutrition, and cheering you on —plus, our support always stays close by.

If you want to take it further, ask us about our personalized pro-level training program, created by our in-house professional coaches.

2. What kind of bikes do you provide? Can I bring my own?

We offer top-of the-line Fara Cycling All-Road bikes with carbon wheels and Sram Force AXS.

If you are looking for less exertion or want to share the trip with riders at a different fitness level, we can also provide premium e-road bikes.

All our bikes are thoroughly maintained and prepared for each trip. That way, you can forget about the hassle of checking and transporting yours.
If you prefer to ride your own bike, you can definitely bring it along and we will seamlessly deal with the logistics of your bike case (or bag).

3. What kind of food can I expect?

Gastronomy is one of our highest priorities. We will always go the extra mile to deliver the best food experience, both on and off the bike. From freshly baked local pastries at the rest stops, to the best selection of restaurants at every one of the towns we will stop.

4. What type of accommodations can I expect?

Our accommodation choices are always unique and meticulous, blending well-being and authenticity in the best locations.

On Custom trips, we offer always the highest level of accommodations.

As for our Signature trips, the Exquisite voyages offer exclusive 5-star hotels. The Essential journeys, more unique 5 and 4-star hotels. And with the Ultimate point-to-point adventures, you stay at distinctive 4 and 5-star hotels.

5. How many people do I need to make it happen?

We can put together a Custom trip with a group of as little as six people. If you want to join one of our public Signature trips, these take place when eight or more people sign up.

6. How big are the groups on your open Signature trips?

We have a maximum of 14 people per trip, ensuring a guest-to-guide ratio of no less than 3-to-1.

7. Can you accommodate non-riding companions or family members?

Anyone is welcome to join the tour. On Signature trips, we will provide general guidance to ensure they also have an unforgettable experience and accommodate them as much as possible around the cycling party.

On Custom trips, we can design the whole trip to seamlessly combine rides and off-the-bike activities to ensure everyone makes the most of the journey.

We do encourage everyone to try our premium e-road bikes to ride along with the more avid cyclists in the group!

8. What kind of support is provided during the rides?

A guide stays with the group at all times, leading the way, setting the pace, keeping the group together, and ensuring everyone’s safety.

The support vehicle is always nearby in case of an emergency, and mechanical issues are promptly handled by our team.

Otherwise, we see the support vehicle roughly every hour to provide nutrition and water, facilitate clothing changes, and any other thing we may need on the road.

9. Do you offer customized or private tours?

Both. Our Custom trips can be entirely tailored for corporate groups, families, or special occasions. You can choose the destination, the trip length, the level of effort, and so on.

As for our Signature trips, you can enjoy them privately with your group of eight or more, or you can sign up for our public trips by yourself or with cycling partners. Contact us to learn which tours are departing this year.

10. What destinations do you offer, and when is the best time to go?

We can plan a Custom trip anywhere in the world, and our Signature destinations can adapted to your preferred dates.

That said, these are our most popular destinations and our recommendation to visit them:

February – March
· Canary Islands
· Exotic Taiwan
· Mexico Coast-to-Coast

April – May
· Idyllic Mallorca:
· Girona & Costa Brava

June – July
· Best of the Pyrenees
· Majestic Norway

July – August
· Epic Dolomites
· Alps Supreme

September – October
· Croatia Islands
· Utah Gravel

11. What happens in case of bad weather or emergencies?

Although we have a solid route plan for each day, every ride is weather-dependent to ensure your safety in these remote areas. Ultimately, the Tour Director will decide to follow the original plan or do an alternative option if it is not viable or safe.

We always recommend our guests arrange travel insurance for themselves to ensure they are covered for any unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.

12. What travel arrangements do you assist with?

We take care of all accommodations from the first to the last day of the tour. If you would like to arrive early for the trip or stay afterward, we can provide guidance on things to do and places to stay.

As for meals, we provide delicious breakfast and lunch during your stay with us, and most trips include all or some dinners as well. We also provide nutrition and hydration during the ride, as well as a taste of the local treats as snacks.

We take care of all your transfers during the trip, as well as the luggage transfers as we change hotels and all of the bikes’ logistics.

If you need help with flights or airport transfers, we are happy to advise on what your best options are.

13. What are Horizons Cycling’s and its guides’ credentials?

Since it was founded in 2021, Horizons Cycling has already delivered over 50 tours, all with stellar reviews.

All our guides have years of experience, are able to communicate in multiple languages, work with passion and attention to detail, and always offer outstanding and personalized service accompanied by a smile.

14. What is the daily itinerary like?

A typical day consists of a full morning of riding, followed by a local lunch, then finishing the ride, arriving at the hotel around 4pm or 5pm. Afterward, you have some time to relax or visit the surroundings before we take you to dinner.

You can expect 50-70 kilometers a day on our Exquisite trips (these rides may finish at lunch), 70-90 kilometers a day on Essential trips, and 100+ daily kilometers on Ultimate trips.

Some of our longer journeys include a rest day, and a few of our trips offer alternative rides where the group can decide to extend or shorten the cycling

15. What gear should I bring?

Two months prior to the trip, we will provide a full itinerary including a packing list with recommended specific cycling apparel and accessories. If you need any recommendations before that, we will be happy to provide them.
